Chakras are energy centers along the spine located at major branches of the human nervous system. Chakras are thought to be areas of biophysical energy in the human body. Muladara is the first of the seven chakras and is located at the base of the spine. It is the foundation on which all other chakras rest. It relates to the earth element and is represented by the color red (the color with the longest wave length and slowest vibration in the visible spectrum). Without balance in this chakra our unfolding is without roots, ungrounded, and lacks the stability for true and sustainable growth.
Grounding is the process of dynamic contact with the Earth. It allows us to become solidly real, present in the now, and dynamically alive as we connect into and receive the vitality coming from the earth.
When we are grounded and close to the earth we can tap into a state of grace, embracing stillness, clarity, and solidity; we experience a sense of security that allows us then to branch outward and upward. When we are grounded we bring our consciousness into our bodies which allow us to better connect with the grounding, healing energy of the earth.
