Doing Good: Cancer Survivor Offers Yoga Classes to Help Other Patients

March 15, 2015 //  by Hope

Hope and CandaceI am excited and humbled to be featured in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in the “Doing Good” section where Devika Rao shares a bit about my story as a cancer survivor and about my work sharing yoga with other survivors. A thank you to Patsy Garrett with the American Cancer Society for her kind words and to one of my students pictured below. Candace Knoblock came to my classes while undergoing treatment for breast cancer a few years ago.

It has been my goal since I was called to teach yoga to work with those affected by cancer, walking along side each individual; providing hope along the way; just as my teacher did for me when I first committed to a yoga practice. You can check out my full schedule on my website. I work both one-on-one and I teach a group class for cancer and chronic illness at Johns Creek Yoga on Thursday’s at 1 pm.

Yoga was and continues to be a transformational journey for me. I am inspired by all all my students, but especially by those who are bravely battling cancer. I invite you to read, comment on your experiences with yoga and cancer, and to share this story with anyone that might benefit.  Click here to go to the story!

As always from my heart to yours.

Love and Light,

Hope
